NROL4W – end of week 2

Yesterday marked the end of my second week of doing the New Rules of Lifting for Women programme, so here is my weekly summary.

Nutrition:

Average 1857 cals per day. This is a little low as I’m supposed to be eating at my maintenance level of 1861 on non-lifting days and 2171 on lifting days. Even though I was a bit short, I did tend to eat more on lifting days than non-lifting days.

My macronutrient ratios were 39% carbs, 29% protein, 32% fat, which is pretty damn close to where it should be. The only down side is that due to time constraints I have sometimes resorted to drinking protein shakes to up my protein intake rather than getting it through food. This is something I’d like to improve on, but it is so much easier to throw a scoop of protein powder in the blender, and I always blend it with whole foods, nuts, fruit etc too.

Exercise:

Exercise was good. I got 5 hours 35 minutes in total, and apart from 30 mins of pilates, the rest of that was all at least moderate intensity. Unfortunately this week, I will miss my kung fu class as I’ll be in NY with hubby. Hopefully we’ll get lots of walking in, but I’m not sure it counts when you are stopping every 10 feet to gawp at shop windows and street life like some sad country hick out-of-towners!

Results:

All this effort is really paying off. My weight was down 1.6 pounds this week (4.4 pounds overall in the two weeks since the start of the programme) and BF was down 0.2% (1.2% overall). Hopefully it’ll provide a bit of a buffer for all that gorgeous NY grub. I love NY – it is such an exciting city. I can’t understand all those Brits who just go there to shop – what a waste. But I suppose hubby and I go there to EAT!!! Still, we try and get a bit of culture in between the barbecue, the blintzes and the bellinis.
