BlubberBeGone Mr & Mrs Challenge

May 11, 2008 at 5:15 pm 1 comment

Well, I’m back from a lovely holiday, 5 pounds heavier, but thanks to walking for miles and taking a couple of pilates classes while I was there, at least my body fat % hasn’t changed. Hubby is also unhappy with his weight and has decided to work out with me and stick to a healthy eating plan.

I will be following the Self 2008 Challenge for the next 3 months, with additional pilates and fun cardio. On the cards for this month are my Latin Dance DVD and a local belly dancing class that one of my pilates students goes to and I’ve been trying to get to for ages. Hubby will be doing weights 3 times a week from Turbulence Training, with an hour jogging/running on the treadmill 3 times a week. No amount of persuasion could convince him to go with the Turbulence Training 25′ interval workouts instead.

We also have a couple of books of walks around the area we live, so now that the weather is getting better, we hope to do a weekly walk on Saturdays too. Plus, we treated ourselves to a Wii today and will be boxing, playing tennis and the like for a bit of extra fun. I have a Wii Fit on order, but there are none to be had at the moment. I did read somewhere that once you plug all your data into the Wii Fit, the Mii you created as your icon actually starts to look rather disturbingly more like the real you, so I shall enjoy having a slender attractive alter ego while it lasts.

As for diet, we will be doing a 2-week Detox programme to begin with from the Australian Women’s Weekly Detox cookbook, then switching to good old-fashioned healthy eating, as opposed to a diet as such.

In general, I am feeling much more positive and the holiday obviously did me good, although I’m not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. We’ll see how being meat, wheat, and teat-free for the next 2 weeks affects my mood. Hopefully, for the better. I will be posting more about the first BlubberBeGone Mr & Mrs Challenge over the next weeks and months, and if hubby says it’s ok, I’ll post his stats as well as mine. Anyway, I have to go juice something yummy now. ‘night all.

Welcome back! I think it’s a good idea to do this with your hubby. Hope the detox diet goes well!

Congrats on the Wii… I figure one of those might eventually be in our future, along with the Wii Fit, but first I want a bigger TV. Tired of squinting at my screen, LOL!
