Turbulence Training 5th Transformation Contest – end of week 2
I’ve just finished my second week of the Turbulence Training 5th Transformational Contest. Here is an overview.
Nutrition:
Av cals: 1737
Av deficit: 650 (range -100 to ~900)
Carbs 43%, Fat 34%, Protein 22%, Alcohol 2% (2 small glasses of wine over two days)
Nutrients – >100% RDA on everything except pantothenic acid (one of the B vitamins) (90%), iron (77%), and vit E (58%) – I take a multivitamin and mineral anyway, as well as 1g vitamin C, a B complex, and 6g fish oil daily.
Exercise:
Did all three workouts from week 2 of TT for Female Strength, phase 1. Main points of interest (at least to me):
- Found a step (in the kitchen) that is 15.7 inches high, so between the height of my aerobic step and my bench. This is about right, but am still doing BW only step-ups and will stick with that until my form is perfect and I am using my legs only to lift me up.
- BW row went from (4,4,3) to (5,5,5)
- Push ups went from (10,11,12) to (17,18,14)
Did four HIIT sessions (one carried over from week 1), played badminton with work colleagues, and tried a new yoga DVD (which wiped the floor with my sorry ass!), as well as a bit of walking. Am absolutely loving my jogging and running intervals, although I still do my recovery intervals walking at 4 kph. And the results are starting to show in my legs, if nowhere else.
Body:
Weight down 1.8 lbs on last week but BF up to 45%. It is that time of month for me, and I feel horrible and bloated, so I won’t read too much into it. My weight (and BF) were actually lower yesterday, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Or it would, if there were any cookies around here!
Worse news on my measurements – my 2 cm loss on my waist from last week is apparently no more – it may just have been a measuring error.
Everything else was the same except for my thigh measurement – down 1.5 cm on last week and 3 cm in total. Now I know why I like running so much!
Despite the disappointing progress this week, I know that I am doing everything right and the results will come. Or another way to look at it is the progress I am making in myself – eating well and exercising, resisting temptations easily and really enjoying my healthy eating and workouts. I suppose, really, these are the real gains I am making, the numbers shouldn’t matter too much – but it would still be nice to see them moving in the right direction. I am soooo sick of being a size 20!
Still, like I said, I am enjoying this new lifestyle and will have no trouble keeping it up. Hubby and I are away this weekend, at a festival, but are staying in a hotel (am I glad! the weather is apparently going to be torrential rain all weekend. Ah, the British summer.) Anyway, the hotel has leisure facilities, pool, gym, sauna, etc. I have already checked on the availability of free weights and a stability ball, so workouts scheduled as planned. And I may even treat my aching hamstrings to a massage. It’s not very rock n’ roll, but I like it!
