Happy New Year

Happy 2008 to all my readers. I don’t know how many of you are regulars but anyone who has been following this site from the beginning, around 6 months now, will know that not a lot has changed in that time, at least with regards to my body weight. 6 months on I have to admit that I’m still pretty blubbery.

So what have I been doing? What changes have I made? Well, my exercise habit is more of a habit than a fantasy, but it’s not really set in stone yet. My goal has been to do 5 hours of exercise minimum a week. I managed that, and more, before I started working, but since then it has been rather more erratic, with one week where I didn’t do any exercise at all. I did work nearly 50 hours that week, though, for what it’s worth. Also, one thing that has changed: when I don’t exercise for a few days in a row I really notice the difference. I miss it. That is definitely a change. But even over the holidays I haven’t managed 5 hours. Last week was more like 3 and a 1/2. Having said that, I did do something six of those seven days. It might not have been much, but it was something.

At the moment, I am half way through the original turbulence training (TT) workout. Six workouts down, six to go. I’ve come close to missing workouts a couple of times, but this is the third TT workout I’ve done, and I want to finally be able to say I’ve done all 12 sessions of the block in the four weeks allocated, and cross this item of my 101 in 1001 list once and for all.

As for my 101 list of self-improvement goals (see link at top of page for the whole list), I’ve crossed off nine of them in 89 days, so I’m about on target. Plus, some, like getting a monthly facial, are on track but ongoing. I’ve made the most progress in the style and beauty department, and now look much more polished when I leave the house. And my skin looks great.

I’ve made some progress in the health and fitness section, but I do think I could do more. I think I’d feel better in myself, have more energy and verve, if I did more. I did a couple of days juicing detox before Xmas, and I’ve kept up a juice a day since then. Hopefully, that will also start helping with my energy levels soon. The thing that’s most letting me down at the moment is my eating habits. I’m supposed to be following WW points plan, but I’m not really. We got soooo much chocolate for Christmas. Thanks a lot Rels. I should have gone round to the neighbours and given it all away as soon as they’d all gone home. But no, I had to eat it. Just a couple here, the odd one there, but it’s all gone. Well, the Baileys chocolates have all gone, and the Ferrero Rocher are all gone. I even helped hubby polish off the animal crackers, despite not particularly liking them. There are a few more boxes we haven’t opened yet and they are being given away as gifts. I know I shouldn’t be ruled by an inanimate object – that I should be in control of what I put in my mouth. But if I was, I wouldn’t be here in the first place. If they’re not in the house, I rarely miss them. Anyway, the WW system is pretty good, and I know I’ll lose weight on it if I stick to it. So come tomorrow, I’ll be digging out my food diary, taking a deep breath, and getting on with it.

Back to the 101 list for a moment, the category that I’ve not managed to cross off a single thing: “Just for Fun”. A couple are in progress, but that’s my other goal for January. To actually cross a couple of items off this section. So, healthy eating and fun. Stay tuned, folks.
