Could have been worse

Up 0.6 pounds this week, but all things considered, it could have been worse. It was Thursday, you see. Thursday was a big day, in a couple of ways. First of all, I had a job interview that went really well and they offered me the job before I left the building. They also offered me chocolates during the interview, but I didn’t indulge!

Things went downhill from there. I had to rush back home, pack a bag and drive with hubby and mum down to Nottingham to see a very sick relative in hospital. I didn’t eat lunch before we left, so by the time we stopped on the road for something to eat, I was starving. Even so, I chose Core-friendly foods and was a good girl. Then, when everyone was having a bathroom break, I swanned around the shop. That was my first mistake, since I didn’t actually need anything and it was just asking for trouble.

Bought my first chocolate bar in around 2 months. Well, I fancied it, and I’d just got a job, and I was celebrating, right? It was just one chocolate bar after all. Then we got to the hotel and there were chocolates in the room. I polished both of them off and threw the box away before hubby even saw them, feeling guilty. We weren’t going to get to see my cousin that day so instead of doing my Turbulence Training workout in the hotel gym, hubby and I had an afternoon nap. More like a coma than a nap. Around 3 hours.

Then all the rels joined us for dinner and I pigged out. I couldn’t get warm so I had two kahlua and milks, but they didn’t have skimmed milk, so not only did I have to count the booze, I had to count the milk too. Then at dinner, there was a roll and butter, both non-Core, and of course, dessert. Six of the others ordered sticky toffee pudding and I couldn’t just sit there and watch them and smell that wonderful rich toffee smell, so I made it seven.

By the time they left, the gym had closed, plus I was too full to workout anyway. Hubby and I went back to the room and watched TV. Within an hour or two I was actually peckish so raided the mini-bar for sour cream and chives flavour Pringles, bringing my day of shame to an end. On the Core plan, you get to eat your ‘free’ core foods, plus 21 points per week for non-Core foods. On Thursday alone, I ate 30 points. Oh dear.

Still, I shifted my workouts down a day and did my TT workout on Friday instead. And since our hotel room was so big, I did my kickboxing workout Saturday morning before breakfast. I also got back on plan with the eating and was good Friday and Saturday. So all told, 0.6 is not too bad. What it also means is that I can have the odd blowout day without completely derailing my weight loss journey. Particularly as I am clocking up between 25 and 30 bonus exercise points a week. Something worth remembering, although not to aspire to!
