Tae Bo

I did my scheduled Tae Bo workout today. I bought the DVD about 3 years ago, tried the beginner how-to segment, collapsed in a sweating heap after about 10 minutes, and haven’t looked at it since. Today, I just dived right in with the main workout, a bit trepidatious, but determined to do my best. 35 minutes later I was done, hot, sweaty, and happy. Then I sat down and watched the beginner segment. The first ten minutes barely got me into boxing moves – it was mostly warm up stretches. How unfit was I then? Wow. And how much fitter am I now. That’s something to be proud of. Even though my bouts of exercise over the last year or two have been erratic, going through gung-ho phases and blubber-up phases, overall, my fitness levels are much higher. Who’da thunk it? Anyway, today is the end of my exercise week and I’ve clocked up 6 hours and 5 minutes, or 25 WW points! Meeting and weigh-in tomorrow.

In other news, met hubby in town today during his lunch hour and took him to buy a new pair of running shoes. We went to Up and Running, where they put you on a treadmill and film and analyse your gait. He’s a slight pronator. So he’s all geared up now, and, although I doubt he’d admit it, I think he’s starting to get into this running thing. He came into the lounge after his run tonight, amazed that he was already fitter than when he started, less than 2 weeks ago. And, and I quote, “I even stretched for you”, he said proudly. Awww.

After buying the shoes this afternoon we checked out the outdoor European market. They have these from time to time in various squares around the city. This one was all food. Cheeses, sausages, soups, and pies. And it smelt fabulous. Restricted myself to a half-serving of steaming hot paella which filled me up just fine. Hubby, who had previously said he wasn’t hungry and besides he was on a diet, rocked up with not one but two giant chorizo baps with fried onions. So much for the diet. They were nice though, I had a nibble. Avoided lingering around the fudge and toffee stall.

I’ve also updated my progress on some of my 101 in 1001 list and put it on its own page in case any of you are interested in my faltering journey of self-improvement. I wanted to put a countdown in the sidebar, but it doesn’t seem to recognise java script. Suggestions welcome. And I’ve added a list of weight loss goals to the sidebar – mini steps, right?

That’s about it for today. ‘night all.
